Easter 2025 | Fear. Denial. Betrayal. Fleeing. Peace. | April 20, 2025
Sermon Description:
When you think of Easter you might think of bright colors, festive outfits and celebration. But the story of Jesus’ resurrection begins not with joy, but with fear, denial, betrayal, and fleeing. In fact, this is the dominant emotion in the Gospel accounts. But in the story, Jesus meets His disciples - who are huddling together in fear - and says “peace to you.” And then Jesus shows them His wounds - which are proof not only of His resurrection, but His love. Despite our failures and fears, Jesus meets us with peace, love, and new life through his resurrection. And that same invitation is extended to us - to embrace the peace and freedom that come from a relationship with the risen Christ.
