More than 20 years ago, the staff at WestGate Church was challenged by a thought-provoking question:
“If your church burned down, would anyone who doesn’t attend even care?” The honest answer back then was, “Probably not.”
This sobering realization inspired us to reflect deeply on how we could better serve our neighbors—both locally and globally—in the way God calls us to. We felt compelled to honor God by encouraging our church to think more intentionally and give more generously beyond the walls of our building.
Thanks to your generosity and your response to God’s invitation to love our neighbors, we have given $17,474,226 over the past 10 years outside of our church. While there is still so much more to do (and we are committed to doing it!), we believe the answer to that original question has changed.
It is our prayer that we will continue to be generous with all God has entrusted to us, as we love and serve our neighbors here in the Bay Area and across the globe.
