Upside Down Kingdom - Week 11

 

It’s easy to take things for granted.  Even very good, very important things. When’s the last time you thought about the good gift of oxygen?  Or eyesight? Or hummus? Exactly. In fact, in our highly individualistic and highly consumeristic modern culture, we’re often encouraged hundreds of times a day to be dissatisfied with things.  But the Biblical narrative - and the life and teachings of Jesus - show us that gratitude is a core practice that unlocks all sorts of deep joy. And in this story from Luke 17, we see how gratitude can change our perspective, fill us with hope and actually connect us to others, and to God Himself.
