Joy! - Week 4

Cynicism is rampant in our culture today - a deep and settled belief that everything is ruined, and people are corrupt and untrustable. And our current climate turns people into villains and foes, and makes seeing people for who they are - mixtures of both good and bad - impossible. The problem is, when this kind of cynicism gets into the church, we lose our antibodies of hope and joy. We stop being carriers of good news, we begin to agree with the world that there is no good news. And so perhaps the most revolutionary thing we can do in a world filled with cynicism is be people filled with joy based not on good feelings, but who God is, what He has done and what He’s promised to do.
