A Thrill of Hope - Week 4
If we are not careful, the Christmas Story we imagine will be more likely to be shaped by Hallmark than the actual author, Luke. But in the story in Luke, we see that Mary and Joseph didn’t have a very polished and easy time. In fact, it was messy, uncomfortable, filled with travels with Mary almost past her due date, Roman oppression, and social ostracization (because of the unique and miraculous circumstances of Mary’s pregnancy). But if we look underneath the hardships, we’ll see that Luke is also trumpeting another truth: that God is at work, even when we can’t see it clearly.
