Before You Serve…
PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO SERVE
DO NOT attend if you are sick, have a cough, etc.
DO NOT attend if you have a family member who is sick
Wash your hands thoroughly for AT LEAST 20 seconds with soap and water before arriving
Wear closed toed shoes
Wear a hat or ball cap to keep long hair from getting into food. If you don't have one, a hair net will be provided.
You will be asked to take off any jewelry on your hands or wrists prior to washing your hands. Please keep that in mind and leave them at home, or wear clothing with pockets where you can place any watches (including iwatches), rings, etc.
Jewelry and devices on fingers and wrists are not allowed when handling food.
Cell phones must be kept in your pocket or purse while volunteering, so please take any selfies when you first arrive or after your shift. Once you wash your hands and put on gloves, you will be asked to keep your phones stored away. If you take out your phone during the volunteer shift, you will be asked to remove your gloves, rewash your hands, and put on a new pair of gloves.Avoid close contact with other people (6 feet+ of social distance)
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth Cough into your elbow or cough into a tissue and throw away the tissue after use Agencies will provide disposable latex gloves to wear
Depending on your volunteer duties, you may be provided and asked to wear a face mask Agencies will provide hand sanitizer and/ or access to hand washing stations, but we encourage you to bring your own small personal hand sanitizer (70%+ alcohol) to use
Before, during and after events, anticipate that: Where possible, agencies will ask you to wash you hands with running water and soap prior to the volunteer event Where running water is not available, agencies will provide hand sanitizer (70%+ alcohol)
Agencies will utilize sanitizing wipes and / or disinfectant to wipe down all tables and commonly shared registration tools (pens, clipboards, etc.) before registration begins and after each event
Agencies will review safety standards with all volunteers
Agencies will provide and require volunteers to wear latex gloves as appropriate
Agencies will ensure that volunteers are up-to-date and following preventative protocols at all projects
