5th Grade - Preteen Ministry

We understand that the development of a preteen is different than the younger primary grades and yet not completely ready for the challenges of teen-hood.  We have specially designed this year to prepare 5th graders for the spiritual and peer challenges that lie ahead in being a teenager.

What to Expect

Your preteen will be greeted by volunteers who have been through an application process that includes recommendations, interviews, a criminal background check, and training on caring for preteens.  Upon your first visit a registration form should be filled out. 

Each week, kids come in with the opportunity to just hang with their peers.  During this time there are plenty of activities, including board games, video games, air hockey, and bumper pool.  Everyone then gathers around for an open discussion about that weeks topic.   We use a combination of video clips, object lessons,  games, and discussion to explore the scriptures and to find relevancy and talk about ways to apply it to our own lives.

The Vertical V year is considered a pivotal year in developing the habits of a lifelong adventure with Christ.  We will encourage prayer, journaling, a devotion time, peer sharing, and community service.  Our goal is to make it a positive life changing year.
